Nova is a board certified medical illustrator (CMI). She received her Masters in Biomedical Visualization at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her Bachelors was completed at San Francisco State University in studio art with a dual emphasis in painting/drawing & new media with a Biology minor. She was a 2017 recipient of the Vesalius Trust Research Grant for her Masters research project entitled, Adapting a Haptic Motor-Skill Simulator to Include 3D Histology and Supporting Information Architecture, published in the Journal Of Biocommunication, Vol 42, No 2 (2018). Her work has been featured in the Northwestern Public Health Review and the International Museum of Surgical Science.

While at heart I’m a traditionalist who loves the directness of hand drawing & painting, I remain interdisciplinary so as not to limit myself by medium. I enjoy utilizing all of the tools I've cultivated to  research, process a concept, and incorporate fine-art and design sensibilities to transform an idea into something beautiful, clear, and applicable.
